Interpreting
We don’t just translate and create at Duo. We also make sure that you can be understood anywhere and anytime, even in spoken word. Spanish, Italian, German or Chinese − from our office in Maastricht, we make sure you can communicate effortlessly with non-native speakers.
From one-on-one meetings, small meetings with stakeholders and negotiations with your supplier, to large-scale international conferences. We deploy our interpreters in different ways, depending on the situation.
Interpreting conversations or remotely
Do you have a personal conversation with one or a few people? Our interpreter will be happy to join the conversation and ensure that your words are translated into the language of your interlocutor(s), and vice versa. The interpreter ensures a clear conversation where everyone can understand each other.
Does the interview take place online or is meeting on location difficult? Of course, it’s also possible to have an interpreter join the meeting via telephone or a digital connection, such as Google Teams or Zoom.
Interpreting at meetings: from small to large
There are several options when it comes to interpreting at meetings. We will be happy to discuss these with you per your request.
In conversations or meetings with one person who is a non-native speaker, we usually deploy a whisper interpreter. While interpreting, this person whispers the translation into the ear of the person he or she is translating for.
For small meetings, it is also possible to use a consecutive interpreter. This interpreter summarises the speaker’s words during short pauses in a talk or lecture. The speaker and interpreter alternate.
Our interpreters are also at your service for large meetings, conferences and lectures. In such situations, we work with a simultaneous interpreter. Simultaneous interpreters translate at the same time as the speaker, so there is no delay. This is usually done using special interpreting equipment.
Interpreting equipment
Need equipment for your interpreting assignment? We’ll take care of that too. An interpreter can use a whisper set, with a microphone and headphones, for example. In the case of large meetings, an interpreting booth may be needed. This is a soundproof system in which the interpreter takes place. The interpreter translates into a microphone, which listeners can hear through headphones. This way, there is no delay.
Interpreting in any language
Our extensive network includes specialised translators and writers as well as interpreters. In some cases, we collaborate with a specialised sister organisation for interpretation services. That is why we have interpreters available for every possible language.
